One thing to do is check that the GPS receiver is getting a good
signal. Turn on clockstats and look at the output when it
does and doesn't work.

If things are working correctly, you will see something like this every minute
or so:
55256 281.489 127.127.20.0 $GPRMC,000441.000,A,3726.0856,N,12212.2626,W,0.85,159.08,010310,,*12

If the signal fades out, the A right here ^ will change to a V.
